Language Advantage

The Language Advantage assists teachers to develop the speech, language and early literacy skills of their students. Across a number of schools The Language Advantage has:

• Empowered teachers to implement new speech and language goals, strategies and activities
• Assisted schools with early identification of difficulties

The Language Advantage comprehensive package is targeted to children from Kindergarten through to Year 3. Our trained therapy team:

• Profile all children in the class, develop a class report and provide feedback
• Work with the teacher to set goals for the students and themselves
• Present a two hour workshop on a topic chosen by the teacher and therapist
• Provide strategies for intervention and its integration into the existing class program
• Conduct four intervention meetings at the school to monitor progress, identify any problems and provide resources
• Measure the progress and outcomes of the year and report back to the principal and teachers

Teachers will learn practical and effective strategies that can easily be embedded into normal lesson plans. The speech pathologist works with each teacher's current knowledge base to extend and build on the teachers skills. Where it has been used, the comprehensive package has shown significant improvements in children's communication.
